Our Café Uses Biodegradable Products

We are using non-toxic, bio-degradable cups, garbage bags, napkins, drink cups and straws in our cafe made by a company based in Toronto called Green Shift.

We believe in organic and fair trade and having biodegradable cups and other products is a natural part of the evolution and a perfect fit for our certified organic facility.

Ideally, it would be great to not use any products that are disposable. We can at least use ones that are biodegradable which won’t fill up our landfills. We think that is a good thing.

What makes our Green shift coffee cups different? Well, they have a biodegradable liner, which is made from a vegetable-based resin. Most coffee disposable coffee cups aren’t recyclable or biodegradable because they have a plastic [polyethylene] layer and that is bonded to the rest of the cup.

And the plastic cups and straws, you ask? They are made from potato starch.

The costs for purchasing bio-degradable products are bit higher but we believe, well worth it.
